As you mention, Windows sometimes will automatically use dial-up networking when you try
to access something through TCP/IP. Since your Client Access connection is via
TCP/IP, the dialer pops up even when you're not accessing the Internet. You can
disable this functionality. You do so in different ways, depending upon the
Windows version you are using.
If you are using Windows 95 or NT:
- Click Start...Settings...Control Panel
- Double-click the Internet option.

- Click the Connection tab.
- Select Connect to the Internet using a local area network

If you are using Windows 98:
- Click Start...Settings...Control Panel
- Double-click the Internet Options icon.

- Click the Connection tab.
- Select Never Dial A Connection

Now you'll need to connect manually when you want to dialup to the Internet, but the dialer won't start when you connect to your AS/400!
